The Statesman : : Nana hits the nab on the origin
We are, arguably, the most unchanging democracy in our region. We have a jumbo capital pool of millions of learned Ghanaians both in Ghana and in the Ghanaian Diaspora from which we can tow to drive our economic development. We have seen uniform economic growth over the last decade. Gold and cocoa prices have enjoyed souvenir hikes in prices over the at couple of years.
On principal of all that, we are now an oil producing economy. Sadly, the order of our economy has not changed since the Guggisberg era. Total exports for 2011, according to the 2012 budget estimates, will hit $12.84 billion, with gold, cocoa and natural grease accounting for at least 81%, Nana Addo notes.
